Roxanne Pallett's fake no
Wednesday, 17 September 2008
Roxanne Pallett hates arrogant men who "put on an act".
The 'Emmerdale' actress - who plays Jo Sugden in the ITV soap - admits she has strict guidelines when choosing a potential partner, and her beau has to be able to make her laugh.
She said: "Men impress me by being themselves. I can't stand idiots who put on an act and love themselves. I'd much rather a guy got it wrong and laughed at himself. Manners are a must, but not to eht point where I'd be a nervous wreck around him.
"I've dated two kinds of guys - the gorgeous bad boys with no manners and a lack of intellect, and the fools who still live at home, are tight with their money and so geeky that they don't even have any banter! I need someone in-between - a guy who makes me laugh and who I can be myself with. He would also have to be ambitious and creative - I'm still waiting at the moment!"
Roxanne also revealed how she would cheer her character Jo up in real life.
She added: "I would take Jo to a spa retreat to get pampered. Denise Welch, who played Natalie Barnes in 'Coronation Street', took a few of us to a Champneys resort for a weekend for her birthday recently and it was fabulous.
"We had massages, sipped champagne in the outdoor hot tub and had dinner and salsa lessons in the evening. It would do Jo good to get away from it all with some girlie company."
