Jeff Hordley's Crohn worry
Saturday, 8 August 2009
Jeff Hordley thought his life was over when he was diagnosed with Crohn's disease.
The 'Emmerdale' actor - who plays bad boy Cain Dingle in the ITV soap - admits he was devastated when he first found out about the inflammatory bowel illness but soon realised it was something he could deal with.
He said: "When I found out I thought it was a death sentence. But it's not. You can live with it and get it under control."
Despite playing one of soap's hardest men, Jeff admits he doesn't have a lot in common with his alter-ego.
He said: "I'm really soft and scared of spiders... if I saw one, I'd be off!"
He also revealed he won a part of a paramedic in 'Emmerdale' before playing Cain, only to be told at the last minute they had written his character out of the scene.
He said: "I thought, 'This is it. I'm on my way.' Then before the euphoria had time to disappear the TV company rang up and said, 'You've been edited out of the final script.'"
