James Sutton joins 'Emmerdale'

James Sutton is to join the cast of 'Emmerdale' as mechanic Ryan Lamb.

Ryan - the son of mysterious new character Faye Lamb - will enter the ITV soap in June, and immediately embark on a red-hot storyline.

Ryan is set to get caught up in Faye's (Kim Thomson) plot for revenge against Mark Wylde (Maxwell Caulfield) - who is currently trying to prevent his own family finding out about Faye's secret past - which the show's producers say will lead to "explosive consequences".

James - best known for his previous role as John Paul in Channel 4 soap 'Hollyoaks' - said: "I'm thrilled to be joining a show as respected and well-loved as 'Emmerdale'.

"It was always on in our house when I was growing up so I'm excited to be a part of it. I'm looking forward to playing such an interesting character and one so different from previous roles I've played."

Ryan - signed to the show after producers had previously announced a search for a "charismatic bad boy with a seriously sexy six-pack body"- is also set to make waves with the female characters in the show, and will at some point embark on a relationship with Katie Sugden (Sammy Winward).

James' addition to 'Emmerdale' comes a week after it was announced Emma Atkins will be reprising her role as bad girl Charity Tate in this year, while popular character Cain Dingle, played by Jeff Hordley, will return to the show next month. April will also see the soap's first ever blind character, Lizzie Lakely (Kitty McGeever) join its cast.
