Emmerdale - Michael tells Debbie the wedding's off

Thursday, 24 September 2009

If you want to know what happens in Emmerdale this week (21st September - 25th September) then don't worry as we have all the gossip you could ever need.

Tuesday 22nd September

Ryan once again agrees to cover for Debbie as she goes to meet Michael. She tells him he's mad coming back to the village after Cain's threats yesterday but they enjoy a morning in bed together. Cain arrives home and finds him in the house, but Michael is defiant. As Cain berates Debbie, Michael defends her but when he pins him up against the wall, Michael realises he's serious when he threatens to kill him if he ever comes back. Debbie is fuming with Cain as Michael flees. Is this the last she'll see of him?

Wednesday 23rd September

Debbie is still furious with Cain for attacking Michael and is relieved when he finally calls and arranges to meet her. She's gutted when Michael tells her this was meant be a good thing - enjoyable/exciting for them both but if people are going to get hurt, perhaps it's gone too far - it was going to have to end at some point anyway.

Worried he's about to end things with her, Debbie tries to talk him round, and tells him she thinks she's already in love with him and its too late to worry about getting hurt. Michael's shocked by the depth of her feelings for him and she's devastated that he doesn't seem to reciprocate.

However when he reveals he is engaged, Debbie is floored. As the enormity of the situation sinks in, Michael tries to reassure her that he does have strong feelings for her and he doesn't even know if he loves his fiancee anymore, but Debbie is fuming and shouts that her dad was right all along. When he reveals that the wedding is next week, Debbie explodes and throws him out feeling she's been nothing more than a final fling to Michael.

Elsewhere, Natasha confronts Faye after seeing the tension between her and Cain and asks her when she'll be moving on - now that she's splitting up with Cain there doesn't seem to be any point in her staying around. However, when Faye assures her that Cain wasn't the reason she came in the first place, Natasha is unnerved that she's clearly still intent on pursuing Mark.

Thursday 24th September

Debbie receives a bouquet of flowers from Michael but is still angry with him and with herself for being fooled by him. Meanwhile, Cain is annoyed when he arrives at the garage to discover she's removed all of his belongings from the house and has decided to throw him out wanting him out of her life. He pleads with her to reconsider, telling her that she and Sarah mean everything to him and urges her to tell him about her problems with Michael.

Debbie finally opens up and admits he was right about Michael - he was about to get married and she never wants to see him again. Later, Michael arrives at the house but Debbie refuses to let him in, he continues to hammer on the door, refusing to leave until she hears him out. Debbie opens the door and slaps him across the face, but Michael isn't deterred and presents her with a jewellery box. Irate, she asserts he can't buy her off, but she's stunned when he tells her he's fallen in love with her, it wasn't part of the plan but it feels so right. Debbie tells him that if he really loves her, he needs to prove it by calling off the wedding. If he marries his fiancee she'll never see him again. Will Michael chose Debbie and break off his engagement?

Debbie is still furious with Michael who won't commit to her and leave his fiance. He doesn't want to go through with the wedding, but he can't give her the answer she wants because it's too complicated for him to just abandon his other life, his fiancee has a young son who sees him as a father figure and it'd be too damaging to him.

Debbie realises he's in too deep and refuses to beg him to chose her, she walks away devastated. Distraught, she confides in her dad who is incredulous as she talks him through Michael's lies. Cain assures her that she's made the right decision and she's worth more than that, he hates Michael for what he's put her through. However, when Michael arrives back at Tug Ghyll and reveals he's made his decision and he's chosen Debbie over his fiancee - she's elated and throws herself into his arms telling him he won't regret it. Cain isn't happy and still doesn't trust him; will Michael prove him wrong and be true to his word?

Friday 25 September

Michael tells a cynical Cain that he's going to break off his engagement today, but Cain warns him he doesn't fool him. As a nervous Michael sets off to go and tell his fiancee it's over, Debbie is worried that she'll talk him round. He reassures her that he loves her and he's going to come back for her, but Cain is doubtful.

Later that evening, Michael arrives back and tells an overjoyed Debbie that he's called off the wedding and they can finally be together. Cain tries to rile Michael again and continues to lay into him, but Debbie warns her dad to back off, determined to make it work. Will Debbie end up getting hurt?
