Emmerdale - Charlie Hardwick's popular Val
Thursday, 1 May 2008
Charlie Hardwick never expected her 'Emmerdale' character Val Lambert to become so popular.
The actress - who won the Best Comedy Performance award at the 2006 British Soap Awards for her performance as Val - said she never believed her character would go down so well with viewers.
She said: "I never expected Val to become so popular. But people tell me they like her because she makes them laugh and she is so wicked. Sadly, I have much more of a moral conscience!"
Charlie also said she is thrilled to be working with Chris Chittell, who plays her on-screen lover Pollard in the ITV soap, because he always brightens up the set.
She said: "I'm always delighted to see Chris. He is extremely kind, generous and courteous - and forever smiling first thing in the morning.
"Everyone gives me a wide berth because I'm always scowling, but he will be there with a grin on his face. I have a lot of respect for him - he is a great screen partner."
