Sex for EastEnders at the National TV Awards
Thursday, 30 October 2008
Everyone knows that the big soaps love to win at the National TV Awards but no one expected EastEnders to walk away with the Most Popular Serial Drama award for the fourth year running.
Rita Simons even managed to bag the Most Popular Newcomer Award for Albert Square.
The whole cast were thrilled that they managed to beat Coronation Street, who failed to pick up a single award.
Barbara Winsor told the Sun winning the award was "better than sex."
She said: "I thought, 'No way, not four on the trot.' It's the best thing in the world. I think we've had a great year."
Poor Lacey Turner managed to keep on smiling despite being beaten to the Outstanding Serial Drama Performance Award by Hollyoaks star Matt Littler.
Lacey usually picks up at least one award at award ceremonies so it must have been strange walking away empty handed.
She has already picked up two All About Soap Awards, one British Soap Award and three Inside Soap Awards this year alone.
She is definitely the one to beat!
