Ricky Groves' Christmas heartbreak
Monday, 11 January 2010
Hannah Waterman told husband Ricky Groves she didn't love him on Christmas day.
Ricky has told of his devastation and heartbreak after his wife made the shocking revelation just after Christmas dinner, and later confessed to being involved with another man at a New Year's Eve party.
The distraught ex-'EastEnders' star told how they had been ready to welcome in the new year at a local pub with friends near their Cambridgeshire home.
Ricky, 41, said: "At 10pm a spare seat came free next to Hannah and I went and set next to her. I had to talk to her, to see if there another reason for the way she was towards me.
"All I said was, 'Is there someone else?' I knew from her body language, the way she stiffened, that I didn't need to hear her answer.
"Then she looked up at me for a couple of seconds, straight in my eyes and said, 'Yes, I have. I'm so, so sorry.'
"I think she'd been desperate to tell me for a while. And I think she was glad when I finally confronted it.
"I said 'That's adultery' and stood up. I didn't speak or look at anybody. I just got my coat and walked out."
The next day Ricky told how Hannah stayed at a friend's house before coming to collect her things from their home, at which point he told her he didn't want to see her or speak to her and to pack her bags and go.
Hannah has denied any romance, saying there was only a "colleague", but Ricky said he isn't interested in who Hannah has been seeing.
He added: "I don't know who the other man is. I have no idea. I don't want to know. I feel devastated enough without having a name.
"I won't play guessing games and I won't ask her who he is because that would destroy me."
Ricky also blamed Hannah's recent loss of 42 pounds and obsessive dieting, as well as their busy work schedules for the split.
He said: "Hannah's get slim crusade changed her mentally and destroyed our marriage."
