Max Branning's financial woe
Saturday, 14 November 2009
'EastEnders' Max Branning cons Heather Trott to protect himself from Phil Mitchell.
The desperate insurance salesman - played by Jake Wood - is frantic when the Walford hardman (Steve McFadden) threatens to expose his corrupt dealings after learning the policy he was sold won't pay out following the recent fire at the Queen Victoria pub.
After Phil warns Max he will expose him to wife Tanya (Jo Joyner), Max turns his attentions to new mother Heather Trott (Cheryl Fergison) in a bid to find some cash to pay Phil back.
Nae Heather swiftly agreed to sign up for one of the most expensive insurance policies, desperate to protect the future for herself and baby George Michael - but Max soon learns even that isn't enough to save himself from Phil's wrath.
Earlier this year Jake admitted he doesn't believe his character is always intentionally drawn down the wrong path.
He said: "I reckon the grass is always greener for Max. I'd like to think he'd do the right thing. But he'll always want what he can't have."
