He said: "I knew 'EastEnders' would change my life in terms of the hours I worked and getting recognised, but I love the benefits it has brought me. Joining the show was the best decision I have ever made."
Jake also said he has forged some strong friendships since he started playing Max.
He added: "I'm mates with Kacey Ainsworth. We did a play together and have been best friends ever since. She was so positive about the 'EastEnders' experience that I wanted to take the job."
Jake revealed his daughter Amber can't believe it when she sees her famous parent on the front of gossip magazines, laughing: "My daughter spots me on the front of magazines in supermarkets and says, 'There's Daddy!' She thinks everyone's dad is on the front of magazines."
