Shane Richie´s ´EastEnders´ return?

EastEnders - Shane Richie to return

Thursday, 8 May 2008

Shane Richie wants to return to 'EastEnders'.

The 44-year-old star admits he is desperate to reprise his role as Alfie Moon in the BBC soap after former 'EastEnders' stars Patsy Palmer and Sid Owen return to the show recently.

He said: "I'd love to go back to 'EastEnders'. I look forward to the day a call comes from the producers saying, 'We want Alfie back'.

"Barbara Windsor, who plays Peggy Mitchell, is always telling me Alfie should return, but who knows."

However, Shane looks set to be left disappointed by the show's bosses.

A BBC spokesman said: "Shane was brilliant as Alfie but there are no plans to bring him back."

Shane was written out of 'EastEnders' in 2005 when Alfie left Albert Square to start a new life with his lover Kat Slater, played by Jessie Wallace.

Since leaving, Shane has starred in drama 'The Good Samaritan' on ITV, and featured in Channel 4 series 'Skins'.

In March, his entertainments firm Frontline Productions went broke, owing over £370,000. It is believed the company ran into trouble when jobs promised to Shane were cancelled or delayed.

This Sunday (11.05.08), Shane begins hosting Sky One game show 'Don't Forget the Lyrics'.
