John Partridge's Eastend move

'EastEnders' John and Syed "inching closer"

Monday, 27 July 2009

'EastEnders' John Partridge says his character and Syed Masood are "inching closer together".

The actor said ideally he'd like his alter ego and his enraged one time Muslim lover - who is in denial about his homosexuality - to have a relationship and develop an "us against the world" scenario.

John said: "They seem to be inching closer and closer together, and I'd love for them to have some sort of future. But what you want and what you get are often two different things.

"It'd be great for Syed and Christian to develop an 'us against the world' mentality, because this relationship isn't so far-fetched - it's difficult for anyone to come out whether they're Muslim, Christian, Black or White."

But a brutal attack will knock Christian's confidence, although he hints that a mystery person will act as his saviour.

John added: "The whole incident leaves him really shaken. He's embarrassed and his confidence is severely knocked. Maybe he's going to have help along the way - somebody to be there and hold his hand... I can't tell you who, though!"
