Danniella Westbrook's plan B

Danniella Westbrook's plan B

Thursday, 16 April 2009

Danniella Westbrook has been making plans in case her return to 'EastEnders' doesn't work out.

The actress will reprise her role as Sam Mitchell in the BBC soap after nine years away, but says she also has her eye on a part in another programme.

Danniella, 35, said: "I think Patsy Kensit's fantastic and has had a great career. I'd love to play her sister in 'Holby City'!

"She's been through a lot too and everyone appreciates a survivor."

Danniella's return to 'EastEnders' is a controversial move for the soap - she was written out of the series three times after her well-publicised cocaine addiction - which eroded the septum of her nose - affected her on-screen performance.

After Danniella left the soap in 2000 she was replaced as Sam by actress Kim Medcalf, until the character was written out of the soap again in 2005.

Speaking of the actresses return to 'EastEnders', executive producer Diederick Santer said: "It feels like a great time to bring back Sam."

Danniella will be back on screens later this year.
