Robson Green's cannibal controversy

Robson Green's cannibal controversy

Wednesday, 30 July 2008

The drama, which stars 43-year-old Robson Green as clinical psychologist Dr. Tony Hill, is set to feature a character who eats his victims alive - and realistic scenes of severed body parts will be shown after the 9pm watershed.

The storyline - which will also feature a leather-clad dominatrix in a fetish club - will run throughout the eight-part series, which starts on ITV1 on September 4.

Condemning the grisly plot, John Beyer of Mediawatch UK said: "If this is what ITV thinks is acceptable, they are mistaken. I wish they would reconsider showing it.

"People are longing for family viewing."

However, 'Footballers Wives' star Cristian Solimeno, 33, who plays a policeman who is strung up with ropes by the killer, defended the show, saying: "It's fictitious and you have to suspend disbelief."

Robson, who shot to fame starring in BBC hospital drama 'Casualty', has been starring in 'Wire in the Blood' since 2002.
