Dania Ramirez set to get sexy on Heroes
Tuesday, 23 September 2008
Dominican babe Dania Ramirez is back on our screens in series three of Heroes, but she's promised that her weepy character Maya is going to be a sexy hero this time around.
Series two saw the introduction of Maya Herrera - a character that seemed to cry more than be heroic - and even Dania was disappointed with the way her character failed to develop.
"I know everybody was frustrated... and I can understand that," the actress told the New York Daily. "Her story line dragged a little bit, even for me. I wanted it to move along as well."
"People loved the original characters, so it was hard to get introduced after that."
Dania's character only got a bit of airtime as the US writer's strike cut the planned 25-episode series down to 11 episodes.
"It’s kind of unfair to judge the character when there was no payoff at the end for why she was introduced," she added.
But Heroes fans can expect Dania to be dressing much sexier: "Maya is different now," says Dania. "I cry a lot less this season and make out a lot more."
Viewers also discover Maya is romantically involved with a new character.
"They fall for each other, and I’ll give you a clue: It’s in an animalistic way," she reveals.
Ramirez won some praise for her short appearance on the second series of Heroes though - winning an Imagen Award last month.
She added: "Being given an award by the Latino community, being Latina and knowing how hard it has been for me — and knowing where I grew up, is a blessing.
"It made me want to keep winning awards!"
