The Embarrassing Illnesses - New series
Monday, 28 April 2008
The Embarrassing Illnesses doctors are back, once again aiming to de-stigmatise common complaints that many people would rather ignore than take to their GP.
But this time round the three straight-talking doctors - Christian Jessen, Dawn Harper and Pixie McKenna - are hosting a series of four special programmes to be shown Monday to Thursday this week.
Each show in the Embarrassing Bodies series is dedicated to different "embarrassing" body parts and conditions.
The doctors will be leaving their surgery and coming out to find the patients that desperately need their help, setting up special clinics in different UK locations.
As Doctor Christian Jessen explains, "People shouldn't feel ashamed or embarrassed because we're all basically the same."
The shows also aim to raise awareness of potentially life-threatening symptoms that are often ignored because they're in a private part of the body.
The GPs encourage viewers to examine themselves at home and give guidance for self-examination of moles, breasts, testicles and vulvas.
This episode is on CHANNEL 4, Monday 28 April 2008 @ 9-10pm.
