Half Ton Dad - 73 stone and stuck in a bed
Wednesday, 14 May 2008
Houston is waging a war on a supersize problem.
Channel 4's documentary on Half Ton Mum Renee Williams revealed the scale of the American obesity crisis.
Inspired by Renee's story, the hidden population of super morbidly obese people cried out for help, and after years of suffering many were freed from their own homes.
Half Ton Dad picks up the amazing story of one of those rescued. Forty-year-old father of four Kenneth Brumley weighed 73 stone when he was cut free from his house.
Unable to walk and trapped in his bed for four years, Kenneth was even bigger than Renee and so the risks to his life were even higher.
His last chance to live was the very same weight-loss surgery, provided by the specialist team who treated Renee.
But surgery wasn't enough to save her. Will Kenneth's tale end differently?
Half Ton Dad is the story of a father, his family and a nation with 15
million morbidly obese people fighting for life.
This episode is on CHANNEL 4, Wednesday 14 May 2008 @ 9-10pm.
