Embarrassing Bodies - Penis problems
Thursday, 1 May 2008
The final episode of this week's special series of shows as the Embarrassing Illnesses doctors go out on the road, hoping to de-stigmatise common complaints that many people would rather ignore than take to their GP.
Tonight's show is devoted to men's health, as men are notoriously bad at visiting their GP, with a whopping 70% saying they only go because their partner tells them to.
So the three straight-talking Embarrassing Illnesses doctors - Christian Jessen, Dawn Harper and Pixie McKenna - go out on the road to see if they can get the men to come to them, setting up a mobile clinic in the bar at Gloucester Rugby Club on match day.
Case studies featured include a man who suffers from the condition gynecomastia - more commonly nicknamed "man boobs" - who wants a reduction.
The show also includes a patient who is worried he will not be able to consummate his forthcoming marriage due to problems with a previous circumcision that he would now like reversed, and a prostate cancer sufferer who has concerns that his operation to remove the cancer will leave him impotent.
Plus four men who are anxious about premature hair loss road-test different treatments for baldness. Throughout the week the GPs encourage viewers to examine themselves at home and give guidance for self-examination.
This episode is on CHANNEL 4, Thursday 1 May 2008 @ 9-10pm.
