'Hollyoaks' star Kieron Richardson is to take part in 'Dancing on Ice'.

The actor, who plays Ste Hay in the soap, is said to be "training hard" for the series, which begins again in January.

A source told website Digital Spy: "Kieron is looking forward to competing in the show.

"He has a lot to live up to, though, if he wants to follow in the footsteps of his close friend and former co-star Chris Fountain."

Fountain came second to Suzanne Shaw in the 2008 series of 'Dancing on Ice'.

A number of other stars are lined up for the ITV celebrity skate off, including Gordon Ramsay's wife Tana, Heather Mills and Danniella Westbrook.

Simon Cowell's ex-girlfriend Sinitta and former 'Coronation Street' star Danny Young are also expected to take part.

As well as 'Hollyoaks', Kieron also starred in an episode of 'Heartbeat' in 2006.
