Dancing On Ice - Tony Gubba says he's happy to be part of the show
Friday, 7 March 2008
Sport commentator Tony Gubba claims he gets more public attention from Dancing On Ice than he has ever had for Match of the Day.
Tony, who was personally approached to lend his talents to the ITV reality figure skating programme by Olympic champions Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, claimed he is "very happy to be part of the team".
The Manchester Evening News reported that Tony, who formerly attended Claremont Road School in Moss Side, is surprised at the success of the show.
"The programme has become quite a phenomenon," he said, adding that he predicts that Suzanne Shaw and Chris Fountain will face off in the final.
"It could be either of them in my opinion, although I have to say Gareth Gates is a dark horse too," he says.
Meanwhile, this week on Dancing On Ice, the four remaining skaters will compete in the semi-final, which will also feature a performance from X Factor winner Leona Lewis.
Leona will sing her charity single Footprints in the Sand while Torvill and Dean perform a routine specially choreographed to the Sport Relief song, the Daily Goss blog has reported.
