Dancing on Ice - Steve Backley survives skate off with Samantha Mumba
Monday, 28 January 2008
Javelin thrower Steve Backley is celebrating today after surviving a skate-off against Samantha Mumba.
Aggie McKenzie once again received the lowest judges score but got saved by the public vote.
No one expected Steve to survive the skate-off because Samantha was tipped to be one of the favourites to win before the competition started.
She had received higher scores than Steve throughout the competition.
Steve put everything into his skate-off performance. It was expected to be his last performance on the ice.
Samantha struggled through her skate-off performance after damaging her hamstring earlier in the show.
The judges recognised Steve's effort and he was saved by all five judges. Samantha didn't receive a single vote.
After hearing the result Samantha said: "I've had an absolute ball and really enjoyed it. It was amazing, I just want to keep doing it for fun."
