Coronation Street's Tina O´Brien and Ryan Thomas monkey about
Friday, 19 October 2007
Tina O'Brien and Ryan Thomas spent their holiday helping at an Orang-utan sanctuary in Borneo.
The 'Coronation Street' stars shunned luxurious hotels and glamorous beaches to visit the Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre in August and help highlight Orang-utan Appeal UK's work with the endangered primates.
Ryan said: "Tina and I are both animal crazy and getting the chance to see these creatures was an honour.
"Without orang-utans the rainforest would be a sad place, but if we don't act fast there's a real possibility they will become extinct. I just hope people help now to save them before it's too late."
The soap stars helped to feed and bath baby orang-utans at the sanctuary and saw the work that is being done to save the cuddly creatures from extinction.
Tina and Ryan's on-screen characters Sarah Louise Platt and Jason Grimshaw are about to get married in the soap, but the nuptials are headed for disaster as Tina is about to quit The Street to star in a panto.
