Malcolm Hebden, who plays Norris Cole

Norris Cole's surprise visitor

Wednesday, 6 May 2009

Norris Cole's life will be shaken up when his long lost brother appears in 'Coronation Street' this week.

The street busybody will get the shock of his life when Ramsay Clegg, appears from Australia to find out more about his brother, whom he hasn't seen for 25 years, but he is met with a hostile reception.

Ramsay - played by former 'Fawlty Towers' actor Andrew Sachs - said: "Norris is shocked when Ramsay turns up at the Rover's Return Pub looking for him. Ramsays's been attempting to make contact over the years, but it hasn't worked, so he's come over from Australia to try in person. He wants to clear things up, but Norris is having none of it."

Andrew also revealed although his time in 'Coronation Street' will be limited, what eventually unfolds happens between him and Norris (Malcolm Hebden) will have a long term effect on him.

He added: "There are consequences to his arrival which will significantly affect people's understanding of Norris. This storyline is finite and Norris will be on a very different footing once it's over."

He added his character will be a hit with the ladies

Andrew said: "Ramsay and Norris are so different - my character has a sense of humour and knows how to get on the right side of people. He's able to charm them a little and be sociable, so the ladies like him."
