Samia Smith who plays Maria Connor in the soap

Maria Connor's beach delivery

Friday, 15 May 2009

'Coronation Street's Maria Connor will have her baby delivered by her husband's murderer after she goes into labour on a beach.

Factory boss Tony Gordon - who had Maria's husband Liam murdered after discovering he had slept with his wife Carla - takes her for a long walk to hurry up the baby's arrival, but is forced to deliver the little boy himself after her waters break.

The pair can't get a mobile phone signal to call an ambulance so Tony (Gray O'Brien) helps Maria (Samia Smith) through the pain and little Liam is born.

Maria - whose first baby with her husband was stillborn - has no idea Tony killed her spouse and evil businessman Tony is now falling in love with her.

The emotional scenes in the ITV soap will be shown in June.

Meanwhile, one of Tony's employees, camp Sean Tully, is set to get a new boyfriend, who he meets down the gym.

He said: "Sean doesn't like going to the gym - but changes his mind as soon as he meets Leon. Soon he's obsessed with pumping iron."
