Karen Henthorn's Coronation love
Thursday, 12 June 2008
Actress Karen Henthorn prefers starring in 'Coronation Street' to 'EastEnders'.
Henthorn, who plays devious mum Teresa Bryant in 'Coronation Street,' also had a part in 'EastEnders' but says she prefers her present soap, which is set in Northern England.
She said: "It's great to be surrounded by a load of northerners again. I'm finding Manchester a fantastic city to work in. It's been 20 years since I left home for London, and it's brilliant to be back up north."
Henthorn says she's enjoying her juicy role as a money-grabbing cheat, and gets much more screen time than when she played the part of Julie Hayne, a school teacher who fell in love with widower Nigel Bates in 'EastEnders' 10 years ago.
She added: "I don't watch 'EastEnders' anymore, just Corrie. People still recognise me from it, even though I look very different now. But I've probably done more acting in a few weeks here than I did in the seven months I was in 'EastEnders'."
'Coronation Street' producers have announced that Henthorn's character Teresa and her family will be leaving the soap in autumn this year.
