Alan Halsall's wooden kisses
Sunday, 21 June 2009
Alan Halsall compares on-screen kisses to cutting blocks of wood.
The 'Coronation Street' actor, who plays Weatherfield mechanic Tyrone Dobbs, says neither he nor his recently married wife Jucy Jo - who is also an actress and previously played the character Katy Harris in the soap - get upset when the other has to do love scenes.
He said: "Work's work at the end of the day. If I were a joiner, it'd be like cutting a piece of wood."
Lucy-Jo added: "We're not jealous of things like that. It's not nice doing kisses, but we know they don't mean anything. I'm always just thinking 'Please say cut!' "
Despite both of them being married to different people onscreen, Lucy-Jo said their acting experiences never prepared them for the real thing.
She added: "It's so strange when you get married for TV because it's all pretend. With my real wedding I'm just so excited, I can't stop smiling."
Alan and Lucy-Jo - who are both 26 - met on the set of 'Coronation Street' in 2002 and married at St Bertoline's Church in Barthomley, Cheshire on June 13.
