Great British Menu - London vs South East
Monday, 12 May 2008
It's the final week of regional heats in Great British Menu and, this week, it's the turn of two top chefs from London and the South East to impress the judges with their culinary skills.
With a fertile agricultural landscape and more restaurants than any other area of Britain, competition to represent this region is certainly going to be tough.
The first chef hoping to secure a place in the final is Jason Atherton.
Jason has classical training and experience of cooking abroad in places such as Spain and Dubai and, as such, feels that he exemplifies 21st-century British cooking.
However, Jason faces stiff competition in the form of Atul Kochhar.
Atul has won the London and South East heats in both previous series of Great British Menu with his fusion of authentic Indian influences and local British ingredients and is certainly prepared to do what he can to make it to his third successful final.
The forks, spoons and knives are out – but who will triumph and go forward to the Gherkin and glory?
The narrator is Jennie Bond.
This episode is on BBC TWO, Monday 12 May 2008 @ 6.30-7pm.
