Benidorm - The Oracle [Johnny Vegas]

Benidorm - Kung-fu punch up

Friday, 4 April 2008

The Oracle's (Johnny Vegas) attempts to apologise to Mel (Geoffrey Hutchings) for the diving accident leads to a bit of a kung-fu punch up.

Instead of escaping from the resort, Martin (Nicholas Burns) and Kate (Abigail Cruttenden) find themselves stuck in their room babysitting Telle's (Hannah Hobley) baby, Coolio.

After his near death experience Mel abandons the idea of "having a crack at Wuthering Heights" at the karaoke night and instead asks a question that shocks everyone – especially Madge.

Johnny Vegas says: "The Oracle is still arrogant but he doesn't mouth off so much about his quiz capabilities now, after suffering defeat last year.

New challenges

Instead he looks for new challenges and he sees himself as a bit more of an athlete. He makes outlandish claims about his fitness levels and tries to be a bit more physical this time - there's a bit of arm-wrestling and diving."

Speaking of her character's relationship with Mel, Shelia Reid says: "Madge has changed quite a bit this series because of Mel. He treats her like a lady and she loves it.

But she is a bit thrown off-balance by the relationship. Things move pretty fast and this worries her and her family until they realise he is wealthy, of course."

Geoffrey Hutchings is no stranger to a bit of karaoke, and admits he's sampled the karaoke in Spain: "Indeed I have. There's a lot of it out here… my favourite karaoke track to sing is Lonely Girl that I sing to Madge in episode two."

Episode airs Friday 4 April 2008 9:00pm - 9:30pm on ITV1.
