Shane Richie has been named as Britain's cheesiest celebrity.

The former 'EastEnders' actor - who played Alfie Moon in the BBC soap - beat 'Torchwood' actor John Barrowman and TV presenter Graham Norton to the top spot.

The poll, conducted by Edam cheese, also featured former 'Generation Game' host Bruce Forsyth, fake tan fan Dale Winton, Noel Edmonds, Richard Madeley and Carol Smillie.

A spokesman for Edam cheese said: "We weren't surprised Shane topped the poll as he is a natural entertainer with just the right amount of cheese."

Richie began his career as a Pontin's Bluecoat and made his TV debut in BBC sketch show 'You Gotta Be Jokin' in 1991.

He went on to present a number of game shows including 'Win, Lose or Draw' and kids' show 'Run The Risk'. The 44-year-old also replaced Danny Baker in the 'Daz Doorstep Challenge' detergent adverts.
