Trisha Goddard won't let cancer stop her
Tuesday, 8 April 2008
TV presenter Trisha Goddard has vowed to continue working despite being diagnosed with breast cancer.
The talk show host, who had a lump removed three weeks ago, wants to be back at work by the end of the month even though doctors warned her the cancer may have spread.
Trisha's business partner Malcolm Allsop said: "Trisha does not want to feel like a sick person. She went straight back to work after the first operation. Fortunately the shows are recorded several weeks in advance so she is hoping that transmission will not be interrupted.
"When she had her last medical last year the doctor said she had fitness levels of an endurance athlete. She is strong and will come through this."
Trisha must now undergo a second operation to remove lymph nodes after a micro cancer cell was detected in one of her glands.
The 50-year-old presenter - who has two daughters, 18-year-old Billie and Madison, 15 - was "in a state of shock" after discovering the cancer could have spread.
Her husband Peter Gianfrancesco said: "She may need, or choose to have, chemotherapy. We are both stressed and exhausted but are trying to deal with it one step at a time."
Trisha's life has been plagued by adversity.
She was beaten as a child, battled eating disorders as a teenager and left devastated when her sister killed herself.
She discovered her first husband was gay, while her second spouse betrayed her after she gave birth to Madison.
Trisha took a drugs overdose soon after and was admitted to a psychiatric hospital.
