Trisha Goddard inspired by Kylie
Friday, 18 April 2008
Trisha Goddard says seeing Kylie Minogue successfully beat breast cancer has inspired her in her battle against the same disease.
The 51-year-old TV presenter - who was diagnosed with cancer last month - has realised the illness can be beaten after watching the '2 Hearts' fight it.
Trisha, who has two daughters with husband Peter, said: "I was a bit overwhelmed when I was first diagnosed. There is that fear about not seeing your daughters grow up. But s**t happens and there's nothing written anywhere that it shouldn't happen to me.
"Thank God for Kylie. I'd read so much about her and it was really, 'Well hang on girl, she's all right'."
Immense support
Trisha, who is mother to 18-year-old Billie and 13-year-old Madison, also said her family has provided her with immense support since her diagnosis.
She added to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "I started getting very panicky and wobbly in crowds and Madison said 'Mamma I'll put my arm around you and they'll just think it's a mamma and her daughter having a cuddle.' That brought tears to my eyes.
"And oh my God, where do I start with Peter? He is incredible. I am berserk in love with him."
