Celebrity Big Brother 2009 - Ben Adams can't compete with Mutya Buena
Tuesday, 6 January 2009
Sales of former Sugababe Mutya Buena's album Real Girl have shot up since she entered the Celebrity Big Brother House.
After last night's episode where the housemates were asked to showcase their talents, sales of Mutya's solo disc soared by 106 per cent on Play.com, the UK's favourite online entertainment retailer.

Latoya Jackson's CD Sexual Feeling also gained an 89 per cent uplift while the number of copies shifted of Coolio's Gangsta's Paradise record rose by 43 per cent.
But there wasn't such good news for the other 'singers' in the Channel 4 reality show. Former Liberty X star Michelle Heaton only helped to record a 24 per cent increase of her ex-band's album X.
And Ben Adams is on a road to nowhere with sales of A1's disc The A List. It's not even available on Play.com anymore.
However, demand for second-hand versions has increased by 49 per cent on PlayTrade - Play.com's entertainment market place, which allows people to recycle old, unused or unwanted Books, CDs, DVDs and Games.
"The early increase in sales goes to prove the power of Celebrity Big Brother and the impact that it can have on buying habits, even during a time when people are watching their pennies," commented Helen Marquis, Head of Music for Play.com.
"And if the figures are anything to go by then it looks like we could have a surprise winner in Mutya of this year's show!"
