Susan Boyle's Elaine advice
Wednesday, 22 July 2009
Susan Boyle has finally met her idol Elaine Paige.
The 'Britain's Got Talent' runner-up - who said it was her ambition to become as big a star as the West End legend - was given advice on how to cope with fame by the 'Memory' singer.
A source said: "Susan was completely starstruck. It was like watching a kid at Christmas. It really was a dream come true."
Elaine reportedly told the star to look after her voice, not to say yes to everything, and make sure she does not burn herself out.
Susan's introduction to fame since she appeared on 'Britain's Got Talent' earlier this year has not been easy.
The 48-year-old Scottish virgin entered London rehab clinic The Priory as she struggled to deal with the attention on her.
Speaking about her time in the treatment centre, Susan said: "Anyone who has had that kind of impact finds it really hard to get their head around it. It was just overwhelming. I'm glad I made the decision to go. It gave me time to recharge my batteries."
Susan made her comments on America's 'Today' show, which will be aired today (22.07.09). Her appearance on the show is tipped to be so popular it has caused President Barack Obama to reschedule a TV press conference so it didn't clash.
Susan has become a worldwide sensation since her first audition on 'Britain's Got Talent', singing 'Les Miserables' song 'I Dreamed A Dream'.
Her performance was watched by over a 100 million viewers on video-sharing website YouTube and her celebrity fans now include Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher and Nicole Richie.
