Susan Boyle for Broadway?
Tuesday, 9 June 2009
Dolly Parton wants Susan Boyle to star on Broadway.
The 'Britain's Got Talent' runner-up - who wowed worldwide audiences with her renditions of 'Les Miserables' song 'I Dreamed a Dream' and 'Cats' classic 'Memory' - has built up a huge celebrity following and '9 to 5' singer Dolly thinks she'd be a big hit in the New York theatre district.
She said: "Oh, she's fantastic. She'd be great on Broadway. I want to meet her too."
Broadway legend Liza Minnelli also think the 48-year-old Scottish spinster has the potential to be a star - but warned her of the pitfalls of fame.
She told website Access Hollywood: "Why not? I think she would be wonderful! If she could stand the pressure. You know."
Susan - who was recently treated in top London clinic The Priory for exhaustion following her shock defeat last Saturday (30.05.09) - has always said it's her dream to appear in musicals and wants to be as big as Elaine Paige.
Meanwhile the first winner of US reality talent search show 'American Idol', Kelly Clarkson, has shown her support for Susan, and said how she thinks people have been hard on her.
She said: "I think every person who goes through this, right at the beginning, it's very hard. Because people can be vicious, I mean especially with her - I've heard nothing but people saying horrible things about her."
