Shaheen Jafargholi's Jackson honour
Wednesday, 8 July 2009
Shaheen Jafargholi said performing at Michael Jackson's memorial service was "out of this world".
The 12-year-old 'Britain's Got Talent' star sang the Jackson 5's 'Who's Lovin' You' at yesterday's (07.07.09) tribute at Los Angeles' Staples Center, and admits he was amazed at being approached to appear.
He said: "I couldn't believe it. Michael Jackson has always been my hero and apparently he had seen my audition tape for the 'Thriller Live' tour, in which I played the younger Michael Jackson. It had really impressed him.
"It's an absolute dream come true. I can't believe I am among my idols, such as Mariah Carey and Lionel Richie. It's been amazing hearing my name shouted and flying the flag for Swansea.
"It's out of this world and will only sink in when I get home."
Shaheen - who had been approached to perform at the memorial service by Michael's representatives on Friday (03.07.09) - had been due to duet with the singer at his planned 50-date London residency from next week but was honoured to be asked to step in at the tribute show instead.
He added: "Michael Jackson's death was a complete shock. It devastated me, so performing at the service is a silver lining.
"It was very emotional. Coming to LA to sing at the memorial service, I was a little bit nervous but who wouldn't be? I took it all in my stride."
