Faryl Smith's Pavarotti duet
Friday, 23 October 2009
Britain's Got Talent singer Faryl Smith will duet with Luciano Pavarotti from beyond the grave.
The late Italian tenor's vocals have been added to 14-year-old Faryls' recording of 'O Holy Night', and producers think the pair could take the coveted Christmas number one spot in the UK singles chart.
Pavarotti, arguably the world's most popular opera singer, died of cancer in 2007 aged 71.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Faryl is thrilled - she never thought she'd get the chance to sing with Pavarotti and now she has.
"The technology is note-perfect and it sounds as if they're really there together."
Smith won a £2.3 million record deal after she came fourth in 'Britain's Got Talent' in 2008.
'O Holy Night' will feature on her second album, 'Wonderland', released on November 30.
A source added: "'The X Factor' has been Christmas number one for years and it will take something really special to challenge it, but this could be it.
"Pavarotti was a huge name and Faryl is a rising star. It's a perfect combination."
