Charlie Green messed up on Britain's Got Talent
Thursday, 29 May 2008
Young singer Charlie Green failed to impress the judges with his original song during last night's Britain's Got Talent semi-final.
The ten-year-old had been one of the favourites to go through to the final on Saturday but was let down by a bad song according to the three judges.
Piers Morgan revealed all in his official Britain's Got Talent blog: "If George was the hero of the night, then poor little Charlie Green became the John Terry in the European Cup final figure – a great guy who just had a bad day at the office.
"My heart sank when I heard he was singing a song written by one of his dad's mates. Charlie was performing for a place in the final of Britain's biggest talent show for goodness sake, not singing in the local village W.I. contest.
"And that disastrous song choice cost him big time in the end. Because brilliant though Charlie is, it just didn't suit him nearly as well as the swing style standard Summer Wind that got him through the auditions."
The judges had to choose whether to put through Charlie or martial arts duo Strike.
Simon Cowell revealed his choice first: "Charlie you were hampered by your song choice but you have huge potential. Stike you are unique, one of myfavouite auditions. But as far as potential to win goes...Charlie."
Amanda Holden was next: "I have no difficulty making this decision. I am 100% putting Strike through!"
After a pause Piers Morgan gave the deciding vote: "Okay... Strike".
Despite leaving the competition early young Charlie has vowed to keep on singing and is determined to be famous one day.
