Britain's Got Talent - Signature reveal all
Monday, 2 June 2008
Britain's Got Talent runners-up Suleman Mirza and Madhu Singh are still on cloud 9 after Saturday's final.
The talented duo have revealed all in an interview for GMTV.
Ben Shephard: "Have you had a chance to watch it back yet Suleman?"
Suleman Mirza: "Yesterday night was the first time I watched it, sat down with everyone – friends and family – still can't get over watching yourself on TV, it's a bit weird. But yeah, it was such a great final, it was so exciting just to be a part of it.
"And we were saying this – even on the day - you know, losing to George, it took away some of the blow because he's such a nice kid, and we've become friends, with his family as well. And we had such a nice time – it was a wonderful experience."
BS: But he must love what you guys do as well, because they're some great moves in there I'm sure he's going to be pinching.
Andrew Johnston is a big fan of Signature
Madhu Singh: "All the kids love this guy! They're all - 'Teach me how to moonwalk'. At any given moment – could be the lobby…"
SM: "Andrew's the biggest one there."
BS: "Andy's a big moonwalker now is he?"
SM: "Yeah, he's always. He grabs me whenever I'm going -'Alright, can you teach me to moonwalk?'… 'Stop yeah, I'm eating my food Andrew, give me five minutes, I'll be with you.'
"But they're lovely kids and you know, it's testimony to the fact that you know people say nowadays kids – they're not like what they used to be, and it's not true at all. You just have to take a look at that show and see how wonderful these kids are and what great potential they have to be great."
BS: "There was a diversity as well I think that's really satisfying, and also Madhu that it wasn't a singer that won on Saturday night.
"Previously it's been the singers that are all over these shows. I was
at the semi-finals on Thursday and Amanda said 'I think we're going to have lots of singers', but it was two dance acts that got to the final two."
MS: "Can't believe it. I mean, as you were saying earlier on, there's been a big shift in what the public want. People are realising there are other things apart from singing, choir, opera and R&B.
"There is another side to talent as well – it could be dancing, could be juggling, could be anything. I mean, I love the dog as well."
Michael Jackson is a big fan
BS: "And the dog, yeah – they were fantastic. Just quickly, because we're just out of time, it true that the Jacksons contacted you to say 'good luck'? That was a story in the paper."
SM: "Absolutely true, yeah. I couldn't believe it, it happened about an hour or two before the show, I got a call from the security manager saying, 'Hi, I'm here with the Jackson family – Michael's mother and the two brothers are here – I think it's Jackie and Tito, they're sitting down, they wish you all the best and they'll be voting for you.'
"And then I got a call back on Sunday, I don't think many people know this, and saying that apparently Michael's aware of our act and he's a big fan and he'll be contacting us soon. I don't know if that's quite true, but we'll see what happens."
