Davina McCall predicts end of 'Big Brother'
Thursday, 7 May 2009
Davina McCall thinks next year's 'Big Brother' will be the last.
The fly-on-the-wall show's presenter says she doesn't believe the programme will continue once Channel 4's three-year £180 million deal with programme makers Endemol expires after the show's 2010 run.
She admitted: "It's definitely only got two years left."
Despite her view, Davina - who is tipped to take over from Fern Britton on 'This Morning' - insists people still want to watch the show.
She added to Britain's The Sun newspaper: "It's become an institution - the summer is all about 'Big Brother', just like winter is all about 'The X Factor'."
Last year's series reached an all-time low, with just five million viewers watching teacher Rachel Rice take the winner's crown.
The new series will not be streamed live from the house for the first time ever.
An insider admitted: "It's a cost-cutting measure."
'Big Brother' returns to Channel 4 on June 4. Part of the launch night's programme will include a tribute to the show's most famous contestant, series three star Jade Goody, who died of cervical cancer in March.
