American Idol - Brad Pitt to support Idol Gives Back
Wednesday, 5 March 2008
Actor Brad Pitt is one of a number of celebrities lending their star-studded support to American Idol's annual charity campaign.
A number of famous faces have committed to support the second Idol Gives Back scheme, which raises funds for a range of US-based and international charities.
In addition to Brad, actress Reese Witherspoon, Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie, Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus, Annie Lennox and rapper Snoop Dogg are set to appear in the special, as well as U2 frontman Bono.
Former American Idol contestants are also set to make an appearance at the event, including former winner Carrie Underwood - now an award-winning US country music superstar - and season five contestant Chris Daughtry.
According to entertainment news source E! Online, last year's Idol Gives Back event raised over $76 million (£38.34 million) over its two-night run.
This year, it is rumoured the event will air on one night only in a two-hour special performance scheduled to take place in the US on April 9th.
US TV network Fox is expected to announce the names of other participating celebrities in the weeks leading up to the event.
