Friday, 16 May 2008
Syesha Mercado would love it if her life was turned into a movie.
Syesha came third in the current series of American Idol.
She is proud of getting so far in the competition and thinks her personal story could inspire young people to reach for the top.
Syesha has revealed that her dad had a drugs and alcohol problem when she was a child. It is rumoured that her mum and dad have served time in jail too.
Syesha has told OK! magazine: "I think every family has a struggle.
"And the reason that I even brought up my struggle at my first audition is that my past doesn't determine who I am and I don't feel shameful about tell an encouraging, uplifting story to people.
"One day I'll be able to maybe star in my movie or write a book about it."
She is close to both David Cook and David Archuleta and feels like they're her brothers: "I felt like little sister and a big sister to both David's."
