American Idol - Madonna says she would have been sent home

Music icon Madonna told a New York radio station she would have likely suffered an early exit if she had competed on American Idol.
Speaking to New York radio station Z100, Madonna claimed she broke into the music industry "the hard way" and it was years before record firms paid any attention to her, Digital Spy reported.
"I went to a lot of auditions for musical theatre and conventional mainstream things and I always got cut immediately, so I'm pretty sure the same thing would happen to me," she said of her chances if American Idol had been around in the 1980s.
During last year's Idol Gives Back charity event, Madonna delivered a pre-taped charity message.
Although the singer has not confirmed she will appear at this year's charity event, other celebs such as Snoop Dogg, Gloria Estefan, Annie Lennox and Maroon 5 have announced they will be participating in the April 9th show, which will be co-hosted by Ryan Seacrest and Ellen DeGeneres.
In other Madonna news, Digital Spy also reported that Madonna told Q magazine if she was the mayor of London she would exempt young, aspiring musicians from paying taxes or congestion charges.
