American Idol - Ellen DeGeneres to be a charity presenter

Comedienne Ellen DeGeneres is set to co-host the Idol Gives Back charity campaign with Ryan Seacrest, it has emerged.
The former sitcom star, who currently has a daytime chat show in the US, will return to the charity production for the second year in a row in an effort to raise money for a number of causes in the US and around the world.
It is thought that Ellen will host events taking part at Los Angeles' Kodak Theatre, where many of the musical performances will take place, while Ryan will host the portion of the show taking place on the American Idol set.
Last year, it is estimated that the charity show raised more than $76 million (£38.04 million) for groups such as the Children's Health Fund, the Global Fund to Fight Aids, Tuberculosis and Malaria, Save The Children and the Children's Defense Fund, among many others.
Fox announced last week that a number of musical artists and celebrities will be taking part in the 2.5-hour programme on April 9th, including Maroon 5, Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon, Mariah Carey, Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas and former American Idol contestants Chris Daughtry and Carrie Underwood.
