Ex-America's Next Top Model contestant Anchal Joseph told the Miami Herald she was discovered on MySpace.
The 21-year-old, who was the seventh contestant eliminated from the programme last season, claimed she was given the boot because host Tyra Banks thought she let her insecurities get the better of her during the competition.
However, since leaving the competition, the Miami-based model said she has worked on her self-confidence since leaving the competition and has since appeared in French Vogue.
Anchal explained she was discovered when producers on America's Next Top Model contacted her through MySpace, encouraging her to try out for the show.
"I wrote them back [saying]: 'This is fake. Don't send me emails anymore'," she told the newspaper.
"But they were like, no this is legitimate, come down and interview."
Meanwhile, the most recent episode of America's Next Top Model found the contestants attending go-sees with designers including Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss - who formerly dated comedian Jerry Seinfeld.
Shoshanna launched her own clothing line in 1998, followed by the Shoshanna Swimwear range - which was sported by the aspiring models in this week's show - and unveiled in 2001.
