Anne Hathaway is to star in 'Alice In Wonderland'.

The 'Devil Wears Prada' star will play the White Queen in the Tim Burton-directed version of Lewis Carroll's classic children's story.

'Sweeney Todd' actress Helena Bonham Carter - long-term partner of the director - has also become the latest big name to sign up for the film, and will play the sinister Red Queen.

Anne's character is described as a "a benevolent monarch" who sends Alice to kill a creature known as the Bandersnatch after being banished by her decapitation-loving sister, the Red Queen.

The film will also star Tim's frequent collaborator Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter and newcomer Mia Wasikowska as Alice. British actors Michael Sheen and Matt Lucas have also signed up for the movie.
