Schweppes' summer cocktail recipe
Tuesday, 31 July 2007
To coincide with Schweppes' launch of their new lightly sparkling soft drink 'Straightcut' - specifically designed to suit adult palates – Schweppes mixologist Ben Reed has given us the perfect summer cocktail recipe.
Ingredients
50ml Bombay Sapphire gin
20ml fresh grapefruit juice
15ml elderflower cordial
6 mint leaves
Pomegranate tonic
Method
Muddle the mint with the elderflower cordial in a highball glass, fill with crushed ice and add the remaining ingredients. Garnish with a mint sprig and serve with two straws.
Despite this being a deliciously refreshing alcoholic summer cocktail, Schweppes report that the amount of adults drinking soft drinks has grown a staggering 87% over the last 4 years, and research from Mintel demonstrating that 11% of the UK population claim not to drink alcohol.
Perfect for picnics and summer drinking, 'Schweppes' 'Straightcut' has real fruit content and no artificial colours or flavouring.
The drink comes in 4 flavours: Regular and Slimline Lemon, Slimline Grapefruit & Mandarin and Regular Pomegranate & Blueberry.
1.25 litre bottles will be available in multiple retailers and 330ml shrink-sleeved glass and 375ml PET instant consumption packs will be available in licensed retailers.
