Home-made lemonade
Thursday, 17 May 2007
If you've never made your own lemonade, you're missing a trick – home made lemonade is a quick, cheap and easy way to quench your kids' thirst this summer. We show you how to make it.
Ingredients
• 6 lemons
• 1 cup of sugar
• Water
Method
Blend 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar in a saucepan and bring it to the boil. Keep stirring until the sugar dissolves completely. Then let the mixture cool and refrigerate to form the syrup.
Once the syrup has completely cooled, mix it in a large jug with the juice from 4-6 lemons and stir well. Add 4 cups of cold water and mix further. For fizzy lemonade, just add 4 cups of sparkling water instead.
Make sure you have plenty of ice cubes prepared to keep your home-made lemonade cool when you serve it. And slice any left-over lemons to use as a garnish.
Twist: For bittersweet limeade, just substitute the lemons with limes
