Once you've made these scrumptious treats you'll want to make them again and again.
Ingredients
250g unsalted butter, chopped
250g golden caster sugar
425g porridge oats
50g/2oz walnut pieces
Finely grated zest of 1 large orange
3 tbsp fine-cut orange marmalade
250g Melted chocolate (optional)
Method
1. Preheat the oven to gas 4/180C and butter a 28 x 8cm shallow baking tin. Melt the butter, sugar and syrup over a low heat, continually stirring. Remove from the heat and stir in the oats, walnuts and orange zest. The mixture should be soft.
2. Tip the mixture into the baking tin and bake for around 30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown, but the centre is still a little soft. Remove from the oven and mark into 12 pieces , while it is cooling.
3. Heat the marmalade with 1tbsp of water, until it forms a syrup. Brush the glaze over the flapjack mixture and leave to cool before cutting into pieces.
Twist: As a tasty alternative why not try brushing the cooled flapjacks with melted chocolate!
