Kaiser Chiefs' rap accident

Kaiser Chiefs' rap accident

Tuesday, 7 October 2008

Rapper Sway only featured on Kaiser Chiefs' new album because he couldn't find Mark Ronson.

The 'Never Miss A Beat' rockers were recording tracks in the studio when the rapper came to speak with the producer, who was working with the band, but he wasn't there.

Instead, the group managed to persuade Sway to lend his vocals to album track 'Half The Truth'.

Drummer Nick Hodgson explained: "We had a song we were working on and he came into the studio and I found out later that he came into the studio to find Mark.

"But he wasn't there so he left disappointed. Then I got Eliot James, one of the producers, to ring him up and say, 'What are you doing? Come in and do something.'

"I was going do these backing vocals on the song, which were kind of shouty, a little bit like the Beastie Boys backing vocals and I said, 'Since Sway is literally right there, why don't we ask him to do it?' "

Kaiser Chiefs' third album 'Off With Their Heads', which features 'Half The Truth', is out on October 20.
