Iron Maiden reject award
Friday, 8 August 2008
Iron Maiden have asked to be removed from a list of awards nominees.
The rockers have requested to be taken out of consideration for the Best Live Return category at the Vodafone Live Music Awards, due to take place next month.
Posting on their official website, the band have asked fans not to vote for them because "we're not quite sure where we're returning from."
They added: "We have asked them to remove us from the nominations and they have done this."
The veteran rockers, fronted by Bruce Dickinson, were nominated for their recent concert at Twickenham in London. They were up for the award along with Led Zeppelin, Spice Girls and The Verve.
The Vodafone Live Music Awards take place in London on September 18.
Iron Maiden have not released a record since 2006's 'A Matter of Life and Death'.
