Sugababes' change relief

Monday, 10 November 2008

Sugababes are glad to have turned their backs on their electro pop sound.

The British girl group - who won the Ultimate Mistresses of Music at Cosmopolitan magazine's Ultimate Women of the Year 2008 awards last week - say they feel much more comfortable performing with a live band instead of a backing track.

Singer Keisha Buchanan told BANG Showbiz: "One thing we never want to do is repeat ourselves. We just wanted to get rid of the whole electro pop thing and go back to having a real band.

"I've been in the band since I was 12 and that was the first thing we did, they popped us in the studio with a live band so we had to get into shape. We hate doing songs with backing tracks. It feels so empty without our live musicians."

The 'Overload' singer also revealed she has aspirations to write songs for other artists, while bandmate Amelle Berrabah revealed she was behind one of the tracks on ex-Sugababe Mutya Buena's solo album 'Real Girl'.

Keisha said: "We love writing together and making music together even if it's for other artists."

Amelle added: "I have written a song which was on Mutya's album, she loved it, but I only ever met her once about three years ago. She was lovely so I don't have a bad word to say about her."

Sugababes' latest album 'Catfights and Spotlights' is out now.
